The Ec(h)osophical Listening Lab is a temporary ‘ontology-rejuvenation-department’ within the School of Visual Arts and Design at the University of South Carolina, where students and faculty could reserve one-on-one lecture-performances consisting of live instrumentation played in tandem with spatial sound design, developed in the sanctuary-swampland Congaree National Park. The studio environment seeks to spark intense philosophical dialogue surrounding nature/culture dialectics, encouraging students to explore “home-brewed” ontologies based in spiritual science.
